How to Get a Georgia Real Estate Salesperson License
Atlanta REALTORS® School of Real Estate is proud to partner with trusted online education providers offering flexible, GREC-approved Prelicense courses to fit your schedule. While we no longer offer Sales Prelicense courses directly, you’ll have access to top-notch instructors, engaging course materials, and the convenience of learning on your schedule.
We’ve outlined the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC) requirements below so you can start your licensing journey with confidence.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for a Georgia Salesperson’s License, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a high school graduate or hold an equivalent certificate
- Complete real estate education requirements (see below)
- Pass the Georgia Salesperson Exam
- Submit a criminal background check (GCIC report) to PSI prior to license issuance
- Pay applicable state fees
Real Estate Education Requirements
Applicants must meet ONE of the following educational requirements:

Complete a 75-hour Salesperson Prelicense Course from a school approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission.

Submit qualifying coursework (10 quarter hours or 6 semester hours) in real estate-related subjects from an accredited college, university, or law school. Transcripts must be submitted to PSI with your exam application.

Provide proof of completing at least 75 hours of Prelicense coursework approved by another state. A verification letter from the regulatory agency in that state must be included.
Background Check
A Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) report must be presented at the PSI test center on the day of the exam.
- The report must be less than 60 days old
- Can be obtained from your local law enforcement agency
- If the report includes criminal history or licensing sanctions, GREC will review your eligibility before issuing a license
State Exam
After meeting the education requirement, you must pass the Georgia Salesperson Licensing Exam administered by PSI.
- Exam Fee: $119
- Applications must be submitted within 12 months of passing the exam

License Status
After passing the exam, individuals may:

Apply for an active license with a sponsoring broker using the Sponsoring Broker Statement Application located in the Candidate Information Bulletin.

Apply for an inactive license (renewal fees still apply).
Postlicense Education Requirement
New licensees are required to complete a 25-hour Salesperson Postlicense course within their first year of licensure.
- The course must be approved by GREC
- Failure to complete the course within one year will result in a lapsed license
