About Event

Natural disasters have become a significant factor underlying mortgage default. This program is designed to help real estate professionals understand the threats that drought, wildfires, floods, hurricanes, and sea level rise pose to clients buying real property. You will discuss how land use planning can reduce or exacerbate these threats. Further, you will discuss what the best available science and data indicate, regarding the link between these threats and climate change.

You will gain an understanding of the risk under climate change, what the existing uncertainties are, and where to find the best available scientific information. While you cannot be expected to be a scientific expert, this program will help you direct your clients to critical public data sources.
