About Event

The Georgia Trust, in collaboration with the Southern Architecture Foundation, Lord Aeck Sargent Architecture and Buckhead Heritage Society, has created this program, which is intended to educate real estate professionals on the history of Atlanta's architecture, the legal foundations of historic preservations, and the economic incentives that are available to many restoration and rehabilitation projects.  Identifying and educating leaders in the field should help strengthen efforts to preserve historically significant resources in metropolitan Atlanta.  A firm foundation in preservation will allow these professionals to work toward preservation solutions before they reach a critical outcome.

This course will be presented over four sessions, with three required 2-hour lectures and an optional completion and networking opportunity.  Lecture topics include a history of GA and metropolitan Atlanta; GA architectural styles; prominent historic architects of Atlanta; historic preservation law; and, economic incentives for historic preservation.

All the sessions will be held at Rhodes Hall in Midtown Atlanta on the following dates:

Session 1:  Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Session 2:  Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Session 3:  Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

 Reception/Networking Event:  Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, 6:30 pm
