A Letter regarding the current state of affairs from your 2020 ARA President, Jennifer Pino

It's difficult to find the right words to fully express our world's current situation. There is fear and uncertainty and isolation. But there is also hope and kindness and fellowship. [...] as the 2020 President of the Atlanta REALTORS® Association, I am discovering the need to be more agile than ever before. The ARA Board of Directors is making critical decisions on a daily basis as this current situation rapidly evolves. At the very center of everything the ARA stands for is our membership, and your well-being is our foremost concern.

Coronavirus Emergency Legislation: What REALTORS® Need to Know
Federal

Congress has passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (H.R. 6201) providing support to American workers, families, and businesses, including the expansion of paid sick leave and family medical leave. It also includes refundable tax credits for small businesses and self-employed individuals to cover the cost of the leave.

Local Governments Impacted by Coronavirus
Local

As businesses, schools and families are having to adjust day-to-day operations due to the Coronavirus outbreak, governments are not immune. Most all local government offices are having to alter how they do business. We are working to keep our members updated on the various changes as they happen.

State Legislature Update
STATE

It seems that not even State Government is immune to the Coronavirus. In an unprecedented move, the Georgia State Legislature went into an indefinite recess, halting all movement on legislation for the immediate future.

Atlanta Mayor Issues Moratorium on Some Evictions/Filings

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has instituted a temporary moratorium on residential evictions and filings for a period of sixty (60) days effective immediately.

In response to the growing public health concern regarding the COVID-19 virus, the Association is taking the precautionary step to postpone all planned events and utilize Zoom conferencing for all scheduled committee meetings for the next 30 days. We will continue to review this policy weekly as new information becomes available.
