Over 9,000 Realtors from across the country gathered in Washington, DC for the 2017 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings and Trade Expo. This meeting gives Realtors the opportunity to hear from industry leaders, exchange ideas and best practices, but more importantly to discuss pressing issues with members of Congress and key administrative offices.

Bill Rawlings, President of the Atlanta REALTORS® Association, lead a delegation of local members in a series of meetings and discussions with all of Georgia's sitting members of Congress and both U.S. Senators. The message was direct, "Do we want a nation of homeowners or a nation of renters?" Issues that were relayed on Capitol Hill included renewing the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), protecting sustainable homeownership by prohibiting the use of mortgage guarantee fees for purposes other than risk management and rejecting tax reform ideas that weaken or repeal tax incentives encouraging home ownership.

This conference also highlighted RPAC investors for the hard work and continued support of RPAC. ARA's very own Maura Neill was inducted into the RPAC Hall of Fame. This is an honor for those who have invested $25,000 to RPAC. Her name will be added to the "Wall of Fame" that sits atop the NAR building in Washington, DC.

If you were unable to attend the meeting, but would like to contact your members of Congress regarding these and other issues or to read more about the issues, visit the Legislative Action Center.
