DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond paid a visit to a combined meeting of the Government Affairs Committees (GAC) from the residential and commercial boards. CEO Thurmond discussed issues that affect the real estate industry, such as economic development, the water crisis and transportation.
CEO Thurmond gave our members a glimpse into his upcoming State of the County address, which he will reflect on his first “90 Days” in office. Elected in November 2016, CEO Thurmond has enjoyed a stellar political and legal career. First elected as a State Representative from Clarke County, Mr. Thurmond went on to head Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services, was elected Georgia’s Labor Commissioner and served as interim Dekalb County School Superintendent. Mr. Thurmond is also an award winning author and accomplished lawyer.
